Since getting my toasted sandwich maker, toasties have become a regular meal in our house. They are so versatile and quick to make, perfect for busy families. Here are my top 10 favourites for busy mums.
1. Pesto, Mozzarella & Sun Dried Tomatoes
This toastie has a real Mediterranean flavour. It takes me right back to my Italian honeymoon and is a great one for both adults and kids alike.
2. Tuna Cheese Melt
This is such a cheap toastie to make but packed with flavour. We add a little salt and sweet chilli sauce for an added punch.
3. Banana, peanut butter and Nutella
Until recently I never would have thought of making a sweet toastie. This one is a favourite after-school treat for my kids and while it’s a little bit naughty on the sugary side, it also is great at picking them up after the afternoon slump.
4. Brie and Cranberry Sauce
This toastie is so decadent and definitely one to keep for the adults. These are great served in miniature triangles at a party. A fancy twist on a basic snack.
The great thing about toasties is that anything you put on a pizza will taste great in a toastie. Some pizza sauce, cheese and whatever pizza topping you prefer making this a delicious treat. My favourite is chorizo and basil.
6. BBQ Chicken
For something with a lot of punch, try adding pre-cooked chicken, BBQ sauce and sweetcorn with a little bit of cheese to make this moreish delight.
7. Cheeky Cheese
This one is a bit unconventional but trust me, you won’t regret it. mature cheddar cheese and Cheese & Onion flavour crisps (Tayto is my favourite). Taste sensation!!!
8. Taco Toastie
For a Mexican twist, add some pre-cooked Mexican chicken, peppers, avocado, sour cream, coriander and a squeeze of lime. Serve with salsa and some tortilla chips. Olé!
This is a twist on the humble hamburger. Cooked beef mince, cheese, chopped baby tomatoes, pickles, and hamburger sauce. Serve on its own for a snack or with fries for a main meal.
Rounding off our top ten with a deliciously decadent dessert toastie. Fill your toastie with Nutella, and marshmallows and enjoy an oozing, melty luxurious treat.
